Thanks to Shantelle for a great lesson/demo on the bargello technique of piecing quilts. She had step by step instructions and projects in the works for us to see. She put so much time into our guild meeting and we are grateful.
Shantelle passed out a paper with a few of her favorite websites that deal with bargello quilts and here they are:

this one is of Billie Lauder and her instructions

Thanks Shantelle for a great and inspiring lesson. Now ladies, on to our WATER row!

The Friendship Block Exchange for 2009 is now underway! This year we are doing it a little bit differently - we are all one big happy group! If you are participating this time around, you will be making 2 blocks each month and then you will receive 14 blocks in return from your friendly guild members.
This is one of the blocks for the month of August. Please contact Sherron or Shantelle directly with questions concerning the blocks you are making them this month.

Also, remember to prepare your block instructions and give it to Cat to distribute. It would be great if you could make up a block of your own pattern to show us at guild meeting and to be posted here when it is your turn.

Cathy's Fat Quarter Tuesday Quilt
Second Tuesday of the month is FAT QUARTER TUESDAY at Season's of Home in Midway. When you buy 5 fat quarters, you get 3 FREE!
Cathy had a great example at our August guild meeting of a quilt you can make using 8 fat quarters - a Fat Quarter Tuesday Quilt!
You need 6 fat quarters for the center and 2 fat quarters for the binding. Cathy did hers on the bias. She said if you put 4 inch borders on it you need to buy 2 and 1/4 yards for the borders and backing, plus an extra 1/4 yard of contrasting fabric to add to the backing because the width of the fabric comes up a little short. She likes contrasting fabric on the back because she adds that 1/4 yard down the center for a little more pizazz! You can do whatever you want, if you want it to be the same continuous color, buy 2 1/2 yards for the border and backing.
Thanks Cathy for a super idea!

Kaye Evan's BEE UNIQUE Trunk Show
Kaye Evans was our wonderful guild meeting guest in July. She shared with us how to be unique and make a quilts our very own with our own personality being reflected. She had an amazing trunk show and we were very pleasured to have her with us for the evening.
If you remember anything in particular about some of these quilts, please be sure to comment so the rest of us can remember her tricks and tips and how inspired she made us feel.
