Retreat supplies


Heber Valley Quilters Retreat
March 8-9 2013
Homestead Garden Room
Time: 8 am Friday-7 pm Saturday
Meals: Friday dinner at Mattie’s Bistro at the Zermott and Saturday lunch at Fanny’s

We have planned 3 projects for you this year.
Susan Turpin is teaching her owl pincushion. It’s fun, fast and fabulous.
Deonn and Debbie will be teaching us curved piecing using the drunkard’s path pattern and the AccuQuilt machines.
Sally will be teaching a great way to make half square triangles to help us with our design challenge for this year.

Woolie Owl Pincushion
Materials List:           1 – 8” x 8” piece of felted wool for the owl body and base
                                    1 – 4” x 4” piece of felted wool for the owl tummy
                                    12” piece of embroidery floss for nose (gold is a good color)
                                    2 buttons for eyes
Walnut shells will be provided for stuffing; however, if you prefer to use silica sand or poly stuffing, please bring your own

Drunkard's Path Class

Test out our AccuQuilt machines to quickly die-cut perfect shapes, learn some great tips for curved piecing, then explore design/layout possibilities with these versatile blocks.
Fabric Requirements:
Wall Hanging 28'x 28" (17 @ 7" blocks)
1/2 yard each of 2 contrasting (dk, lt) fabrics
1 yard backing/binding
Table topper or small wall hanging, 18"x21" (42@ 3" blocks)
1 charm pack
3/4 yard backing/binding
(You may want to bring additional fabrics and fusible web to play with other AccuQuilt die cut applique' shapes.)

Half Square Triangles tutorial
2 fat quarters- light fabric
2 fat quarters-dark fabric
Make sure you bring:
*Sewing machine with presser foot and power cord, thread, scissors, projects, supplies for classes offered at the retreat, pincushion for the exchange, rotary cutter, seam ripper,  ruler(s). I’m sure there’s more but that’s up to you!
