January Guild-Time for Friendship

Welcome to a year new with new quilt guild board members!  We certainly are going to miss our previous board as we figure out how things work.  Thank you for all of your hard work!!!

This year our new president is going to be Amber Sisson,
who has some wonderful ideas for this year.  Our theme is going to be about Time and of the many ways we can use and enjoy it.

January started us off with Time for Friendship and we had many new faces come to guild, lots of laughs, beautiful sew and tells, and don't forget, lots of fun :0)

The Sew and Tells

Barb Murdock brought her finished snowman wall hanging and squares for a barn quilt that we were all wanting the pattern to (sorry, the pattern is not available :0(

She also brought a beautiful quilt that she finished with the help of Cindi Williams.

This is where my real camera ate the batteries and I had to use my camera phone, which is great if you don't move or what you are taking a picture of doesn't move.  So, sorry the pictures didn't turn out well.

Kydawn brought in a clutch (or was it a mouth piece??) and a beautiful bag made out of selvage edges. What a great way to use all of the fabric.
(sorry for the really interesting pictures, Kydawn.  I'll do bettter next time!)

Suzanne brought in a wonderful American-themed quilt she had finished.

Nita had a stunning bar-jello quilt that she had added wall hanging sleeves on to.

Tricia brought in the stockings, hand towel, and advent calendar she had made for Christmas.

Marsha brough the front to her quilt that had cute little birds on it.

Patty and her cute little helper brought in some nifty circles for a quilt she has been working on.  They also had some beauty Christmas stockings. (alas, that picture didn't work out so well...)

Tamara brought in a table runner with beautiful fairies quilted all over, an awesome quilt with sewing machine pictures and items on it, and a cute love banner.  Way to keep busy Tamara!

This quilt was brought in by Rachel, who made it for her parents with all of the grandkids' hands on it.

Rachel also brought in a cutsie little flag quilt.

Sue brought in a beautiful quilt that she had finished.  Way to go Sue!!

After our sew and tell, we did some make and takes to brush up on or to learn new sewing techniques. We also shared great company and ate some yummy food.

Our cute little helpers learning how to basket stitch little hearts for Valentines' Day.

Our grown-up helpers at the sewing table practicing perfect squares and doing the bar-jello technique with cards.

The very tasty artichoke dip (can you tell? almost gone before I could take a picture!) from our snack table. Thanks to all who brought goodies!

We also did a special drawing from those who brought a friend with or paid their dues for this year.
The prize was an apron made by Celeni.
Our special winner this month was Suzanne.  Yeah for her!!!

As part of the evening, we had a few announcements and a few fliers passed out.  If you have any questions, bring them to the next guild or ask a guild board member.

Sew fun! Also I will have the fabric ready Saturday, February 1, 2014 for the Charity Quilts at the Sew Day/Mini Retreat. We can work on them there or you can take a couple home. I will bring the rest to Guild meeting on February 6th, 2014 so we have them ready by Presidents Day.

I am so sad that I missed our mini sewing retreat. I had a quilt I had to get quilted. Elise I made the artichoke dip last month. See you all at quilt guild.
