A "Piece"ful Paradise of flip flops

This is a quilt top that was put together by Wendy, I think, and that was quilted by KayeDawn, I think, for the Utah Quilt Guild Quilters For the Cure Block Challenge. Every year a pink fabric is chosen by the Utah Quilt Guild as the fabric used for the fundraiser for the Susan G Komen Cancer foundation project. You can buy a fat quarter of the pink fabric for $5.00 and then make a 12 1/2 inch block using that fabric and turn it into the Utah Quilt Guild at Quilt Fest in September. These blocks are then made into quilts to be raffled off and funds go to the Susan G Komen Cancer Society. These blocks were made last year and handed in at the 2007 Quilt Fest.

Many members of our guild have already purchased the pink fabric for this years block challenge. We are inviting members of our guild to participate in the block challenge this year together. You will be receiving an email with specifics about our little project, so look for the email. We thought it would be great to have our guild make quilt blocks using the fabric and put all our blocks together into a quilt top for this year's Quilt Fest. The theme for this years Quilt Fest is A "Piece"ful Paradise. We found a cute and simple block pattern with flip flops appliqued onto the block that would make a cute quilt. If everyone used the pink fat quarters as the background and used their own fun and crazy fabric to make the flip flops, we could have a super fun and cute quilt top ready, instead of just quilt blocks to turn in at Quilt Fest in September.

If you want to participate and still need fabric, please contact Wendy at wjones1968@msn.com. If you have already purchased the pink fabric and made your cute quilt block, good for you!
