Round Robins

Here are the beginnings of this years Round Robin Group.
It looks like they are getting a good start.
I can't wait to see the finished quilts.

Round Robins Revealed!

July ended our Round Robin Exchange for the year. Most were finished by our July meeting, but a few more showed up at our August meeting. Here they all are (hopefully they are all here, if not, comment and let me know).

One More Round Robin

This picture actually should be a few posts down and included with the rest of the 2008 Round Robins, but it just got finished. Look how happy Wendy is to have her round robin finished and returned!

Round Robin Group #2

There were 6 ladies that participated in a second group of Round Robin making. The last borders were added and finished for our August meeting. Here is the quilt show!

2008 Round Robins, first group

I remember there being around 17 round robins so we are missing quite a few. If your's isn't up here, please bring it to the July 10th meeting so we can get a picture of it. Thanks!

2008 Round Robin is Underway!

There are a bunch of lucky ladies that get to start the Round Robin Exchange this month. Those ladies brought a finished quilt block to be in the center of their quilts and that center block was given to someone else also participating in the exchange at our February meeting. Everyone received someone else's center block to take home and add a border. They should all come back in March with a border added and ready to pass on again.


There is a fun quilting magazine out that is called Quilter's Home. In the Sept/Oct 2007 issue, it has a big article about a Round Robin the author participated in. It is a super article and has great pictures of each quilt as each border was added. There are also a few guidelines they used that are worth sharing here.
* When picking fabric to use on a border, try to keep the particular theme of the quilt going.
* Usually, but not always, it is better to start with a smaller first border and as the borders progress, the size of the border should progress in width too. This is just an aestheticaly pleasing guideline, not a hard and fast rule.
* Be sure to square up the borders as you go, try to pass on a square quilt to the next person.
* The Golden Rule, sew for others as you would have them sew for you!

2007 Round Robin Exchange group #3

Just a few pictures to get you all excited about the 2008 Round Robin Exchange!
These are the tops that group #3 did in 2007.
This top is Debbie's. She did the center, Rachel did the first border by putting it on point and adding a thin red border, Cat did the second border of overlapping squares and the second thin red border, and Michele did the outer border of cream framed squares. Debbie provided her fabric. She had purchased a bunch of fat quarters from the Yours Truly collection by Eleanor Burns a few years ago and included them for us to use.

This is Rachel's top called Grandma's Apple Tree. Cat did the first border of pieced green apples, the second border of green squares, appliqued red apples, and cute tiny brown strip border was done by Michele. Debbie did the outside picket fence border. (I love this by the way, thanks ladies!)

This is Cat's quilt top. The center square of 4 bear paws was made by Cat, the first border of red, putting it on point, and pieced red squares was done by Michele. Debbie did the second border of flying geese, and the outside border was done by Rachel.

This top is Michele Murdock's. She paper pieced this pretty medallion and Debbie did the first border of purple strips and 1/2 corner stones. Rachel did the diamond border and thin light purple border, and Cat finished it off with all the triangles.
